Details
These workshops will be designed such that each week is successively more intense giving students’ bodies time to adjust to the number of hours/day of dancing. Therefore, the first week of each intensive will have more discussion/lecture classes while later weeks will have more
movement classes. The movement classes will also get progressively more intense. Prior to attending these “Intensive Workshops” students are strongly encouraged to be taking ballet classes at least 3 days/week (more if possible) so that it is not quite such a sudden shock to their bodies. Dependent upon enrollment, special guest instructors may be hired for certain classes.

Classes will Include:

  • Modern Dance
  • Contemporary Ballet
  • Introduction to Character Dance
  • Pas de Deux Basics
  • Choreography
  • Focus Topics (body directions, alignment, turnout, port de bras, etc.)
  • Stretching and Conditioning
  • Ballet Technique
  • Pre-pointe and Pointe
  • Variations
  • Turns and Jumps
  • Discussion Topics (injury prevention, stretching safely, ballet history, ballet vocabulary, technique styles, sewing pointe shoes, foot care)

Performances will take place on Saturdays June 30 and August 18 at 3:30 pm (Those who wish to perform must attend the full 2 week/3 week intensives, although all are welcome to watch and enjoy the post-performance parties!)
